Glass Cabins & Design Lodges

The world’s most dramatic landscape, handled by specialists
Iceland is a country where the geology is still actively happening — geysers erupt on schedule, volcanoes are categorized by current activity level, and the ground steams openly in the highlands. It’s the only place on earth where you can walk between tectonic plates, soak in a geothermal lagoon, and watch the Northern Lights from a glass-ceiling cabin in the same 24-hour stretch. It requires no embellishment.
What it does require is thoughtful planning. The Ring Road is beautiful but long. The Highland F-roads are only accessible part of the year and require a 4WD. The Northern Lights demand the right base camps and weather monitoring. The logistics of moving between a waterfall in the south, a glacier lagoon in the southeast, and a lava field in the west are genuinely non-trivial. Our team has designed more Iceland itineraries than most guides have taken trips.
Northern Lights Strategy
Chasing the aurora requires the right positioning, timing, and flexibility. Your specialist builds the correct base camps and monitors conditions throughout your trip so you’re in the right place when the sky opens up.
Design Lodges & Glass Cabins
Iceland’s best accommodation isn’t the international chains — it’s the architecture-forward lodges, geothermal retreats, and glass-ceiling cabins that make the landscape part of the room. Your specialist knows which ones are genuine and which are marketing.
Iceland Honeymoon
A glass-ceiling cabin where you watch the aurora from bed. A private hot spring at midnight. Iceland honeymoons are genuinely once-in-a-lifetime — and our specialists have designed many of them, knowing exactly which experiences make them unforgettable.
Great European travel is an investment. Most clients spend $5,000–$15,000 per person for a complete custom Iceland itinerary — trips start at $2,500 and your specialist will walk through exactly what that looks like for yours.

Fire & Ice Tour — 7 Days
Reykjavík · Golden Circle · Lava Fields · Blue Lagoon · Glacier Lagoon
This is a sample itinerary — for inspiration only. Every Juniper trip is designed from scratch around you. Many clients love an itinerary similar to this one — if something resonates, your specialist will build something just like it (or better) specifically for your travel style, dates, and group.
1
Arrive in Reykjavík
Reykjavík
+
Welcome to Iceland. A private driver meets you at the arrivals gate at Keflavík International Airport (KEF) and transfers you to Reykjavík, Iceland’s compact and characterful capital. Check into your hotel and spend the remainder of the day exploring at your own pace — Hallgrímskirkja church, the Old Harbor, and the city’s lively café culture make for a natural first evening. This is Iceland’s most accessible introduction: a city that rewards wandering, with geothermal energy quietly at work beneath it all.
Overnight: Reykjavík
2
Golden Circle Adventure
Þingvellir · Geysir · Gullfoss
+
Today you explore the world-famous Golden Circle — a long but extraordinary day where every stop earns its place. First: Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park, where you can walk along the rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates through the Almannagjá gorge, watch the waters of Öxarárfoss waterfall, and marvel at Þingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest natural lake. Next: the Great Geysir area, where the Strokkur geyser erupts dramatically every few minutes in a column of boiling water. Finally: Gullfoss waterfall, where the Hvítá river plummets 105 feet into a canyon in two thundering stages. You return to Reykjavík in the evening.
Overnight: Reykjavík
3
Lava Fields
Reykjanes Peninsula
+
After breakfast, head out to explore the aftermath of volcanic eruptions from 3,000 years ago — the vast lava fields that cover much of the Reykjanes Peninsula. Miles of volcanic rock slowly reclaimed by a thick blanket of luminous green moss: a sight that looks like nothing else on earth. Walking through a landscape shaped by fire, silence, and geological time puts Iceland’s volcanic nature into vivid perspective. A destination specialist can build in additional lava tube or geothermal area visits based on your interests.
Overnight: Reykjavík
4
Blue Lagoon Spa Day
Blue Lagoon · Grindavík
+
A 40-minute drive south brings you to one of the world’s most famous geothermal experiences: the Blue Lagoon. Spend the day at the spa — relaxing in mineral-rich, milky-blue water at 37–39°C, applying the silica mud, and drifting between the in-water bar and the steam stacks that rise from the surrounding lava field. The setting is genuinely otherworldly. This evening you’ll stay at the lagoon’s own accommodation, extending the experience into the night — the milky-blue water lit after dark is something different entirely.
Overnight: Blue Lagoon
5
Glacier Lagoon
Jökulsárlón
+
After an early breakfast, head east to Jökulsárlón — Iceland’s iconic glacier lagoon, where enormous icebergs calved from the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier drift slowly across the lake toward the sea. The scale and silence of it takes a moment to process. A boat tour gets you up close to the floating ice; for those who want to go further, there’s the option to climb on the glacier itself with a certified guide. Across the road, Diamond Beach — where icebergs wash ashore onto black sand — provides one of the most photographed views in Iceland.
Overnight: Glacier Lagoon
6
Back to Reykjavík
Hallgrímskirkja · Harpa · Old Harbor
+
After breakfast at the glacier lagoon, head back west to the capital for your final night. Today is for Reykjavík properly — Hallgrímskirkja Church and its panoramic tower views, the striking geometric façade of the Harpa Concert Hall, and the Old Harbor with its fish restaurants and boat trip operators. Spend the afternoon in the public gardens and parks, or browse the independent boutiques along Laugavegur. The city’s local cuisine is worth exploring before you leave — lamb, skyr, Arctic char, and Icelandic dairy that tastes unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere.
Overnight: Reykjavík
7
Depart for Home
Keflavík Airport
+
After a wonderful week in Iceland, enjoy one last Icelandic breakfast before your private transfer back to Keflavík International Airport. Most guests leave already thinking about the Ring Road, the Northern Lights in a different season, or the Highlands interior. Iceland has that effect. Your Juniper specialist remains reachable throughout departure day, and your in-app itinerary stays accessible wherever you need it next.

Taryn Harrison
Iceland & Ireland Specialist · CMSC
Taryn has planned more Iceland honeymoons and adventure trips than most travel specialists in New England have personally taken. She knows which glass-ceiling lodges are correctly positioned for aurora viewing, which Highland F-roads are genuinely worth the 4WD, and how to pace an Iceland week so it feels expansive rather than exhausting. Her CMSC certification and 25 years of European experience mean Iceland’s logistical complexity — the seasonal windows, the weather monitoring, the F-road access — is something she navigates routinely.

Iceland travel questions
The Northern Lights are visible from September through March, with peak activity in October–February. You need clear skies and sufficient darkness — your specialist will build in the right base camps and monitor conditions throughout your trip. Summer visits (June–July) offer the Midnight Sun instead — 24 hours of daylight, a completely different and equally extraordinary experience.
Most Juniper Iceland itineraries run 7–10 days, which is enough for a focused South Coast and Golden Circle trip or a Ring Road circuit. The Highlands require additional days and are only accessible June–September. If the Northern Lights are a priority, plan for at least 7 nights to give yourself enough clear-sky opportunities.
Not necessarily. Juniper designs both self-drive Iceland tours (rental 4WD with GPS — essential for any F-road content) and fully guided itineraries with private drivers. Self-drive gives you the freedom to stop whenever the landscape demands it, which in Iceland is constantly. Guided trips are ideal for travelers who want to focus entirely on the experience rather than the navigation.
Genuinely extraordinary. A glass-ceiling cabin where you watch the Northern Lights from bed. A private geothermal lagoon at midnight. The Glacier Lagoon with floating icebergs at dawn. Iceland honeymoons are unlike any other destination in Europe and consistently among Juniper’s most enthusiastically reviewed trips. Taryn has planned many Iceland honeymoons and knows which lodges and experiences make them truly memorable.
